Health Monitoring in the Bourgogne and Franche-Comté Regions. Update as of May 25, 2023.

Key Points

COVID-19

  • In Bourgogne-Franche-Comté, as at the national level, the incidence rate adjusted for the effect of the holiday continues to decline, with a relatively stable positivity rate, against a backdrop of a low adjusted testing rate. SARS-CoV-2 viral circulation is trending downward, with an adjusted incidence rate estimated at 31 cases per 100,000 residents (lower than the national rate: 35 per 100,000 residents).

  • Incidence rates continue to decline in all departments. They range from 19 cases per 100,000 inhabitants in Haute-Saône to 39 cases per 100,000 inhabitants in Doubs, and positivity rates range from 10% in Territoire-de-Belfort to 17% in Nièvre.

High Blood Pressure

A 2019 study of 753 general practitioners (including nearly 3% in Bourgogne-Franche-Comté, BFC) showed that patients have poor knowledge and understanding of the disease and its consequences, especially since some people are not connected to screening systems and biases are possible in blood pressure measurements taken in the doctor’s office.

This study noted that 83% of general practitioners reported being strongly committed to preventing hypertension, with the majority recommending lifestyle changes. Among them, 85% recommended home blood pressure monitoring or ambulatory blood pressure monitoring (92% in BFC), a percentage that is inversely proportional to the regional density of cardiologists (to whom these patients can be referred). Less than half of these general practitioners felt involved in nutritional prevention, primarily due to a lack of time.
