Health Monitoring in the Bourgogne and Franche-Comté Regions. Update as of September 7, 2023.

Key Points

COVID-19

  • The current situation requires continued vigilance, and Santé publique France, along with health authorities, remain fully mobilized.

  • In week 35 (W35), the rate of confirmed COVID-19 cases via RT-PCR testing remains low. The rate in Bourgogne-Franche-Comté has been rising since late July, increasing from 16 per 100,000 residents in W34 to 22 in W35. The number of SOS Médecins calls is increasing, while the number of emergency room visits for suspected Covid-19 remains stable (Figures 1 and 2). The proportion of hospitalizations following emergency room visits remains relatively stable (around 25%).

  • In medical-social institutions (ESMS), surveillance of individual Covid-19 cases has been suspended since June 22, 2023, replaced by surveillance of clustered cases of acute respiratory infection (ARI). Between weeks 20 and 35, 22 outbreaks were reported in facilities in the region (between 0 and 7 outbreaks per week), 19 of which were attributable to COVID-19.

Extreme heat, heat wave

  • There has been no unusual increase in activity at emergency departments (Figure 3) or among SOS Médecins associations.

  • Activity in emergency departments and at SOS Médecins for heat-related conditions has been relatively stable since the end of the heatwave on August 25, 2023.
