COVID-19
The spread of SARS-CoV-2 is slowing in Bourgogne-Franche-Comté. The rate of confirmed cases continues to decline, falling from 56.3 per 100,000 inhabitants in Week 50 to 49.5 in Week 51. The percentage of cases involving suspected COVID-19 among SOS Médecins associations has decreased (4.2% vs. 6.3% in Week 1), as has the rate of emergency department visits (1.6% vs. 2.1% in Week 1).
In contrast, the proportion of hospitalizations following an emergency department visit is increasing (48.8% vs. 43.2% in Week 1) and primarily involves those aged 65 and older (84.7%).
Mycoplasma pneumoniae lung infection
An increase in emergency department visits for pneumonia has been evident since the end of summer 2023, with a marked rise between weeks 46 and 48 among those under 15 years of age. The number of visits is significantly higher than that observed during the previous two years. However, the peak appears to have been reached, as a decline in emergency department visits has been observed since week 51.
Among those aged 15–64 and those aged 65 and older, the increase in emergency department visits for pneumonia continued in week 51 in Bourgogne-Franche-Comté.
The same trends are observed for SOS Médecins consultations. The current increase is driven by those aged 15–64.
