Health Monitoring in Burgundy and Franche-Comté. Update as of October 12, 2023.
Key points
Bronchiolitis
Emergency department activity for bronchiolitis in children under 2 years of age remains stable at low levels, as does SOS Médecins activity.
COVID-19
The rate of confirmed cases in Bourgogne-Franche-Comté is rising slightly, increasing from 45 per 100,000 inhabitants in Week 39 to 48 in Week 40. The percentage of calls for suspected COVID-19 cases handled by SOS Médecins is decreasing (5.13% vs. 6.90% in Week 1). The rate of emergency department visits is relatively stable and remains low (1.38% vs. 1.13% in Week 1). The proportion of hospitalizations following an emergency department visit is stable (39.3% vs. 38.5% in Week 1) and primarily involves those aged 65 and older (86.7%).
In medical-social facilities (ESMS), surveillance of individual COVID-19 cases has been suspended since June 22, 2023, replaced by surveillance of clustered cases of acute respiratory infection (ARI). Between weeks 20 and 40, 88 outbreaks were reported in these facilities (including about ten per week since late August (Week 35)), 78 (88%) of which were attributable to COVID-19.
Influenza
Influenza-related activity (all ages) among SOS Médecins associations and emergency departments is currently low.
Among the episodes occurring in long-term care facilities, none were attributed to influenza.
