Bronchiolitis Outbreak Continues in Midi-PyrénéesIn week 51, indicators tracking the bronchiolitis outbreak continued to rise in both private practice and hospital settings. In hospital settings, this diagnosis accounted for 25% of visits among children under 2 years of age. This percentage is the highest observed over the past five winter seasons. Indicators may continue to rise in week 52. Regional indicators are presented on page 9 of this Epidemiological Bulletin.

Avian influenza A(H5N1), A(H7N9) outside France, and A(H5) in France: The French Institute for Public Health Surveillance (InVS) is responsible for epidemiological surveillance and the validation of the classification of suspected cases of infection with emerging infectious agents in France. In this context, it supports regional health authorities (ARS) through the CIREs, which are responsible for implementing control measures around cases.Following the recent identification of avian influenza outbreaks among poultry farms in southwestern France, and based on information gathered during the investigations, the InVS is providing healthcare professionals with all updated information describing the surveillance system, case definitions, and recommended procedures for avian influenza
