Key Points

  • In Week 30 (July 22–28, 2024), emergency department visits and subsequent hospitalizations remained stable for both children and adults.

  • Among seasonal indicators, we note:

    • after two weeks of increases, a decrease in visits for hyperthermia/heatstroke across all age groups (-39%, or -115 visits), while visits for insect bites have stabilized at levels comparable to previous years;

    • a decrease in visits for chickenpox among children (-21%, or -121 visits).

  • Visits for whooping cough, which decreased in week 29 among children under 2 years of age, increased in week 30 among children (+13%, or +27 visits) and remained stable among adults. These figures remain at levels significantly higher than in previous years. Visits for cough among children under 2 years of age are on the rise, albeit from low numbers (+10%, or +45 visits).

  • Other respiratory indicators are declining, notably visits for suspected COVID-19 among adults (-17%, or -316 visits), while numbers remain low and stable among children.

  • Among other indicators, there has been an increase in visits for skin and subcutaneous infections among children aged 2–14 (+10%, or +98 visits) and for isolated fever among adults over 75 (+11%, or +42 visits).
