Key Points

  • In Week 13 (March 25–31, 2024), as in Week 12, activity at SOS Médecins clinics saw a very slight increase among children aged 2–14 (+4.5%, or +1,084 visits) and remained stable in other age groups.

  • The main increases in Week 13 were for cases of:

    • chickenpox in children: +44% (290 more cases), more pronounced among 2- to 14-year-olds (+53%) than among children under 2 (+19%),

    • scarlet fever in all age groups: +22% (67 cases), more pronounced among children under 2 years old (31 cases in Week 13 vs. 20 cases in Week 12, or +55%).

  • After several consecutive weeks of decline, seasonal respiratory indicators are showing a slight increase across all age groups: upper respiratory tract infections (+9%, or +2,455 cases), pneumonia (+9%, or +144 cases), and acute bronchitis (+7%, or +285 cases). Influenza continues to decline but is stabilizing among those aged 75 and older (66 cases in Week 13 vs. 50 cases in Week 12)

  • Among other indicators, there was an increase in cases, albeit with small numbers (fewer than 45 cases):

    • In children: for dental and ENT conditions in those under 2 years old (+23%) and vomiting in those aged 2–14 (16%),

    • Among those aged 75 and older: for urinary tract infections (+23%), falls (+20%), and deterioration in general health (+12%).
