SOS Médecins National Newsletter, February 5, 2024

Key Points

  • In Week 05 (January 29–February 4, 2024), activity at SOS Médecins clinics remained stable across all age groups.

  • Seasonal respiratory indicators appear to be leveling off. Only cases of influenza/flu-like illness, which stabilized across all age groups in Week 5, continued to rise slightly among those aged 75 and older and, to a lesser extent, among children under 2 years of age (up 20% and 6%, respectively, or 64 and 33 cases).

  • Procedures for suspected COVID-19 also show a slight increase among those aged 75 and older, though numbers remain low (60 procedures vs. 40 in S04), while other age groups show a marked decline.

  • Procedures for acute bronchitis, pneumonia (stable or declining), and asthma attacks (slightly up among adults, +8%, or +64 procedures) remain at levels higher than in previous years.

  • Among other indicators, for children—with low case numbers—there was an increase in procedures for allergies and isolated fever among those under 2 years old (respectively +18% and +10%, or +17 and +22 cases) and for infectious conjunctivitis and scarlet fever among 2- to 14-year-olds (respectively +17% and +9%, or +84 and +22 cases).
