Key Points

  • In Week 21 (May 20–26, 2024), activity at SOS Médecins clinics increased among children (+12%, or 2,910 more visits) and remained stable among adults.

  • Most indicators are on the rise among children, particularly those aged 2–14.

  • All respiratory indicators are rising; notably, there was an increase in procedures among children under 15 for upper respiratory tract conditions (+18%, or 1,993 procedures), acute bronchitis (+17%, or +147 cases), and among 2- to 14-year-olds for asthma attacks (+37%, or +119 cases), pneumonia (+22%, or +48 cases), and influenza and flu-like syndromes (+11%, or +35 cases). Among adults as well, procedures for suspected COVID-19 continue to rise (+65% across all ages, or +301 procedures) but remain at levels lower than those observed in previous years.

  • Excluding respiratory conditions, among children, there was an increase in cases among those under 15 for infectious conjunctivitis (+14%, or +81 cases), viral syndrome (+12%, or +70 cases), isolated fever (+8%, or +55 cases), trauma among 2- to 14-year-olds (+7%, or +47 cases), as well as gastrointestinal conditions among children under 2 (gastroenteritis) and 2- to 14-year-olds (acute abdominal pain). Among adults, there was an increase in procedures for deaths among those aged 75 and older (+23%, or +62 procedures), as well as for falls and trauma (respectively +20% and +10%, or +31 and +34 procedures).
