Key indicators

Virological Surveillance

  • The number of positive PCR tests decreased (-36%) in week 17 compared to week 16 in hospital laboratories and private laboratories

  • In week 17, the number of positive PCR tests was 3,685 in hospital laboratories and 1,529 in monitored private laboratories

  • Positivity rates continued to decline for both data sources: LABM (3 labs): 12.4% positive tests in week 17 (21.6% in week 16)Hospital laboratories: 15.1% positive tests in week 17 (24.9% in week 16)

Community surveillance

  • SOS Médecins: decrease in the rate of procedures for suspected COVID-19 per 10,000 procedures: 1,100 in week 16 (1,588 in week 15)

  • Sentinelles Network: 95 (tele-)consultations for acute respiratory infection per 100,000 inhabitants in week 17 (161 in week 16), decreasing

Surveillance in long-term care facilities, including nursing homes

  • As of April 28, 2020, 42,972 cases (residents and staff) were reported in long-term care facilities (vs. 36,121 as of April 21) and 5,271 deaths were reported (residents: 4,703 as of April 21)

  • Of these, 34,748 cases (residents and staff) were reported in long-term care facilities as of April 28 (vs. 29,030 on April 21) and 5,144 deaths among residents of long-term care facilities (vs. 4,590 on April 21)

Hospital surveillance

  • Oscour® Network: decrease in the rate of visits for suspected COVID-19 per 10,000 visits, with 1,082 per 10,000 visits in week 17 (1,440 per 10,000 in week 16)

  • Sentinel intensive care units: 69% of cases are under 65 years of age, and 77% of cases have at least one risk factor

Mortality surveillance

  • Excess mortality across all causes and all age groups has been observed for the fifth consecutive week at the regional level. Excess mortality was estimated at 112% in week 16. Excess mortality has been declining slightly since week 15 (excess mortality estimated at 191%).
