Health Surveillance of Acute Gastroenteritis in Upper and Lower Normandy. Update as of January 14, 2016.
Key Points
Monitoring of regional indicators for week 2016-01 indicates that activity related to acute gastroenteritis has intensified in Normandy. The region has not yet reached the epidemic threshold, but indicators show that it is currently in the pre-epidemic phase. The current trend is consistent with trends observed at the national level. Activity related to acute gastroenteritis is less intense and/or occurring later compared to previous winter seasons during the same week. Currently available data suggest the circulation of a new norovirus genotype (GII.17 Kawasaki), which could replace the one that circulated during the last three epidemic seasons (GII.4 Sydney).
